Simple Updates Can Pay Off l All Services NW

March 17, 2010

Having an updated kitchen just feels so good. Weather you are remodeling for you or to sell quickly, here are some things to consider if you are on a budget.

1. If your cabinets are in pretty good shape, consider removing one or two doors and have the majority of it routed out and glass inserted. Make sure it is done properly and the glass is secured. Some cabinets already have a recessed panels that can be removed. However be careful – you don’t want to ruin your cabinets. When finished properly, this adds a nice flair to the cabinets. (remember that what’s inside can now be seen so spruce the inside up too).

2. Most cabinets can be painted, make sure your cabinets are cleaned and slightly sanded. Using several coats (with plenty of time to dry in between) can give a really nice finish. Priming the cabinets is recommended. Use high gloss for easy cleaning in the future. Here’s a twist, you can use a different color on the bottom than on the top. Or the island a different color than the rest of the cabinets. Get creative.

3. Install bead board around the island. This really dresses up an island.

4. If your cabinets are a plain flat panel, consider installing trim on the outside to give that dimensional look – sort of like a picture frame.

5. How about just adding hardware? This can be the quickest way to dress up the cabinets.

6. If your cabinets are fine, update your countertops. This can be a quick change out. You may want granite and if this the only thing you are spending your money on, go big! (Get a new faucet and sink too).

7. Add a tile back splash and throw in some decorative accent pieces in there. You can go neutral or add some flair and “pop” by using accent colors.

8. Paint an accent wall and go bold. If you don’t like it – you can always repaint.

9. Update your lighting fixtures.

10. Install new curtain rods and get some new curtains.

11. Keep the cabinets and update your flooring. Make sure you don’t have too many combinations going on in the flooring area. You’re eye stops at each transition so the more flooring of the same type can actually make the area feel larger.

These just ideas to get you going. It’s amazing what you can do on a budget. Look through magazines, online, etc. to get some ideas of what appeals to you. Never-the-less, have fun with it! If you’re selling, you just might want to stay and have your next projet the bathroom.

ADA Improvements – Designed to fit your home

March 9, 2010

Finding a specialized contractor for your ADA renovations can be difficult. Especially when you are renovating your bathroom or kitchen or ramps to your doorways. Your contractor should come with knowledge of doorway width, ramp grades and even suggestions to make your place more comfortable.

ADA renovations do not have to be costly either. Just because it’s a specialized field, it doesn’t need to leave you broke. However, going with the least expensive contractor may not be the best solution. Leave it to the experts and shop around for bids. ADA renovations already cost enough, why empty your pocket book?

Check with your local bank on any loans that may be available for your ADA renovations. A good resource may be your local realtor or mortgage loan officer as well. Most of them are very informative and can lead you in the right direction. For more information or a free quote on your ADA renovations, contact All Services NW at 253-671-2160. www.allservicesnw.com

Pierce County papers bring BIG business to All Services NW

June 29, 2009

It was a pleasure working with Ron Boisture with the Pierce County Newspaper Group on developing an ad for the “Who’s Who” special edition that gets distributed in Pierce County.  He took the time to ensure our ad was strategically placed and even passed our info along to his editorial department.

Once in the hands of the editors, they chose to do an ad on the unique services offered by a Woman Owned Construction Business in the Tacoma / Puyallup area.  Since the ad was published in early June, the calls have been flooding in.

A special thanks to Ron for seeing a vision and promoting a small town Handyman shop (All Services NW) with a big heart for helping the Homeowner’s and local Business throughout the Puget Sound Region!

Article to follow….http://www.fifefreepress.com/article/614/

Local business owner Sue Erb is well-versed in the construction and contracting industries. The work runs in her blood.

Born and raised in the Tacoma area, Erb has never once left. Her parents were also from Tacoma and her dad, Bud Diedrich, was a furnace repairman with one of the big oil companies in Tacoma and was known as the “original handyman.”

“There was always some kind of construction going on in the house and for friends and family,” Erb stated. “I didn’t realize how I was raised. I was just born and raised around everything that Dad did. I started to work for a company that did electrical, branched to plumbing, construction and HVAC, and they were contemplating going out of business and the guys would lose jobs. I agreed to take over a small, pre-existing company. Lots of staff came over (in the transition).” She affirmed that everything she grew up with transformed into what she is doing today, and that her dad would have been proud of her.

Even though the business seems to be something Erb was destined to do, she acknowledged that it was trying in the beginning. “It was tough to start. I took over in 2007 when the economy started to decrease. I was just trying my best to get through the economy and surface stronger than ever.”

Erb affirms that her business, All Services NW, stands out from the pack due to the fact that it is a “one-call-does-it-all company.” Electricians, plumbers, carpenters and more are all on staff, have long histories in their fields and are knowledgeable about how to take customers’ projects from concept to completion. They do anything from large, detailed projects to small service calls, and that is the nature of their business. “(We’re) also woman-owned, and care to the clients’ needs is the most important thing. (It’s run) under the eyes of what a woman would look at. Our goal is to have the best service out there, and most of our referrals are word of mouth,” Erb stated.

The types of projects All Services NW takes on range from household jobs to large-scale commercial efforts. Many of Erb’s customers have come to her because they were turned away by other companies for their projects either being too small or too large. “That’s when we come in. I love to go out and visit these projects no one else wants to take. We get these types of calls every day.”

Rather than naming a specific trade as her business’ specialty, Erb believes the true strength of All Services NW is its dedication to customer service, and in the ways in which it is flexible with its services in order to get the job done the right way while simultaneously helping customers save money.

While the business has all kinds of clients, the core group tends to be the local community, businesses and single women or women who have husbands who work but still need minor in-home repairs done. Retired individuals seek out her business’ services, in addition to commercial clients doing tenant improvement projects, office layout designing and general repair. Property managers and facility maintenance technicians are frequent callers as well.

The staff at All Services NW can be contacted at any hour of the day to help potential customers with their projects.

All Services NW is located at 5324 84th St. E. in Tacoma. Discounts are available on projects for military and senior citizens. For more information, call (253) 671-2160 or visit http://www.allservicesnw.com.
